"SHOELESS" JOE JACKSON

.. was an American baseball player who played Major League Baseball in the
early part of the 20th century. He is remembered for his excellent perform-
ance on the field and for his association with the Black Sox Scandal, when members of the 1919 Chicago White Sox participated in a conspiracy to fix
the World Series. Kenesaw Mountain Landis, Major League Baseball's first commissioner, banned Jackson from playing after the 1920 season due to
his alleged involvement in the scandal. But for nearly 85 years, fans have
argued as to whether or not the White Sox legend truly deserves such a
stiff penalty, especially when he was acquitted of any wrong doing.

This world is dedicated to Shoeless Joe.

TOP 3 OFFENSIVE BALL CLUBS IN SJ HISTORY

The S7 Santa Fe Santa Clauses did not have a successful season, by most people's standards. An 84-78 record, and just barely missing out on the last Wild Card spot in the NL. However, the S7 Santa Fe team will be remembered for something: being one of the most productive offensive teams in SJ history. Below are the Santa Fe numbers and their rank in SJ history.

.291 BA (1st) 987 Runs (4th) 318 HR (9th) 921 RBI (9th) .843 OPS (9th)

Santa Fe's offensive success isn't surprising, especially when you have guys like Luis Trevino, Ewell Bierbrodt, and Tom Rivers leading the way.

So while we were researching this, we then started thinking about the most offensive clubs in SJ history. In our rankings, the S7 Santa Fe placed 3rd. Who are the top two teams? Well, here they are:

2ND: S5 ARIZONA GUNSLINGERS

No surprise here, as this team was loaded from top to bottom. Nicholas Lanier was an absolute beast this season, pounding 68 HR and 173 RBI, scoring 170 runs. Dale Eaton smacked 211 hits and a .351 BA, while Troy Coffman smacked 46 HR and scored 130 runs. Some of the S5 Arizona team numbers:

.289 BA (T4th) 987 Runs (4th) 335 HR (4th) 956 RBI (4th) .856 OPS (4th)

The S5 Arizona Gunslingers didn't win the WS that season, but their offensive output will be remember for seasons to come.

1ST: S3 SCOTTSDALE TRAITORS

Same organization, different season. And no, Nicholas Lanier was not a major contributor to this team. He was acquired late in the year from the Austin Blacktop (Montgomery franchise). He still caused major havoc though.. in 51 games, he hit a hair over .300 with 28 HR. The major stud on this team was Dale Eaton, hitting .319 with 52 HR and 125 RBI. Alex Shuey slugged 48 HR and 106 RBI, while Sidney Palmer added another 39 HR to go with his 108 runs. Walt Cox also slammed home 37 HR and 118 RBI, to go with his .288 BA. The Scottsdale numbers for that season:

.288 BA (T3rd) 1065 Runs (1st) 345 HR (1st) 1035 RBI (1st) .880 OPS (1st)

The S3 Scottsdale team went 100-62 that season, and went on to win the S3 WS title.
