Brand new San Diego owner mumcoach wasted no time in trying to improve the Padres. First order of business, trading closer Johnnie Smart. And he did just that, sending the dominant closer to the Boston franchise in a deal that was accepted on both sides earlier today.

Not even waiting for the ink to dry on that deal, he went ahead and dealt Lucas Hall to the Santa Fe franchise. Whether these two deal will help the Padres remain to be seen. But you can't say that mumcoach won't do whatever it takes to make the Padres better.
