"SHOELESS" JOE JACKSON

.. was an American baseball player who played Major League Baseball in the
early part of the 20th century. He is remembered for his excellent perform-
ance on the field and for his association with the Black Sox Scandal, when members of the 1919 Chicago White Sox participated in a conspiracy to fix
the World Series. Kenesaw Mountain Landis, Major League Baseball's first commissioner, banned Jackson from playing after the 1920 season due to
his alleged involvement in the scandal. But for nearly 85 years, fans have
argued as to whether or not the White Sox legend truly deserves such a
stiff penalty, especially when he was acquitted of any wrong doing.

This world is dedicated to Shoeless Joe.

Help Wanted: Bad Ass Rocket Launcher

The Rochester Rocket Launchers have made it known to the entire league: we need a bad ass!

Rochester is currently looking for a monster power hitter to put in the middle of their lineup. We recently spoke to Rochester manager Tom Highway, and he filled us in on the situation.

"It's as simple as this: my lineup needs some extra punch. Yeah, we can score some runs, no doubt about it. But I need that bad ass in the middle, one that everybody fears! If I get this guy, who knows just how far we can go!"

If you have this certain type of player available for trade, contact Tom Highway via Trade Chat.

Free Agency Roundup - Day Two

Day one of Free Agency was very eventful, to say the least. Here's the best of the available Free Agents who signed contracts.

Northern New York's WHTK 1280 AM is reporting that the Rochester Rocket Launchers signed 2B Merv Sierra to a 2-year deal worth $9.6 Million.

Ohio's WMOH 1450 The Ticket is reporting that the Cincinnati Reds signed RF Brian Damon to a 5-year deal worth $32 Million. They also came to terms with SP Tex Pfeffer on a 4-year deal worth $24 Million.

Arkansas' KABZ 103.7 FM The Buzz has reported that the Little Rock Lightning has agreed to a deal with SP Art Hogan on a 2-year deal worth $10 Million.

Boston's WEEI 850 AM has reported that the Boston Stricken Gods have signed 3B Alex Shuey on a 4-year deal worth $20.8 Million.

Missouri's WHB 810 AM is reporting that the Kansas City Pine Tar have agreed to terms with 36-year old CF Cristian Won on a 2-year deal worth $6.8 Million.

Free Agency Roundup - Day One

The first official night of Free Agency has seen a bunch of key signings.

Oakland's KNBR 680 The Sports Leader is reporting that the Oakland Athletics have reached an agreement with 3B Pedro Rios. A 5-year deal worth $35 Million.

New Mexico's KVSF 1400 ESPN Radio is reporting that the Santa Fe Santa Clauses signed 2B Paul O'Donnell to a 4-year deal worth $28 Million.

St. Louis' 590 AM The Fan is reporting that the St. Louis Soul have signed 2B Clarence George to a 2-year deal worth $11.6 Million.

Pennsylvania's 96.1 FM ESPN Radio has reported that the Scranton Schrutes have reached an agreement with Wilson Daal on a 4-year deal worth $27.6 Million.

New York's WFAN 660 AM is reporting that the New York Nippers have signed CF Yamid Soriano to a 2-year deal worth $10.4 Million.

Mexico's 1140 AM MR Deportes has reported that the Monterrey Ping the Rookies have signed 1B Jim Kingston to a 4-year deal worth $18.4 Million.

The New $110 Million Man

Free Agency has officially begun.

Teams have listed out their respective team needs, with hopes that they can find the right players to fill those holes. The key quest: the World Series.

Hundreds of players filed for Free Agency with dreams of getting that big payday.

However, there won't be a player out there who will get the payday that Heinie Roberts just got.

Minneapolis' KFAN-1130 AM - The Fan was the first to report that the Minnesota 10,000 Lakes have reached an agreement with 2B/SS Heinie Roberts, a 5-year deal worth $100 Million. The deal also includes a guaranteed $10 Million bonus, making the total worth of the deal at $110 Million.

Heinie Roberts is what you call a rarity. He is the perfect blend of power and speed. Add to that, excellent defensive ability to play virtually any position on the field. He automatically becomes one of the league's most versatile players, and an instant MVP candidate.

Roberts will officially sign his contract at a press conference to be held later in the week.

Shoeless Joe World Officially Filled

Back on August 11, when Rob Root first announced to the world that he was continuing the life of the former 'Braggin' Rights' world, people thought he was crazy.

Six short days later, the world is open for business.

Shoeless Joe world officially filled on Monday afternoon, and the league is now preparing to set budgets. Root made filling the league quite easy, but it was anything but.

When 'Braggin' Rights' world ended Season Four, ex-commissioner Mike T. announced that he was stepping down, and the league theme would not be continued. He predicted the world would fold, as did many of the former league team owners. Mike T. put a call out for anybody to step up as the league's new commissioner, to possibly save the league. Nobody stepped forward. Nobody, except for one man. Rob Root.

"I see potential in this league. The talent is here. Yeah, some teams may be a bit unbalanced, as far as talent goes. But the key to success is bringing in good people with you. Owners who know how to turn teams around."

While Root continued to praise the possible potential of Shoeless Joe world, he wouldn't say that things would go smoothly all the time.

"No world is perfect, that's for sure. I've been part of many worlds where problems arise. It's part of the business. The key to success is how you handle adversity. I'm sure we'll have our share of problems here, but I'll be prepared to handle them."

A transformed league. A new commissioner. And now, 26 new owners ready to compete. Would you bet against this league succeeding? I wouldn't.
